JUST GOT OFF the NCL Bliss - My personal impressions (long)

Of course, the first disclaimer is “we all have different interests and likes.” We were excited to sail aboard The Bliss based on many good reviews. I was a little hesitant because of the size and number of passengers. We just returned from the 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise. Weather was meltingly hot and humid in Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. Cabo was quainter than we expected.
The good stuff - and it’s almost all good! Large ship, very clean and easy to get around (walking) and navigate. Beautiful art. Fantastic chandelier at Ocean Place atrium! Nicely appointed.
We had a balcony room, which was just fine. The closet is facing the sofa and it was quite awkward to access the hangers. I mean, there was 6” between sofa and closet door. Haha, we moved the bed down just a bit so we could squeeze in. There was room for summer stuff, but it might be tight to stow jackets and heavier clothing if you went to Alaska.
The bathroom was great. The glass enclosed shower was really a nice touch. There was also a little coffee maker in the room, which we used often. We had a mid ship location, slightly forward, and it was not far from elevators except.... (see cons).
We did not partake of any. speciality dining. The Local is open 24/7, and great for light meals. The Korean chicken wings were fabulous. The service was very nice. You could sit “outside” the restaurant, around the atrium, watching things happen, and they would bring you your food.
Taste and Savor main restaurants were very good with very good service. We usually booked a reservation to avoid any wait. After all, there are a LOT of people on this ship. It wasn’t five star dining (i.e., when the waiters come to your table and lift off all the domes covering your food at once, etc.), but we liked it. The appetizers are small, so don’t hesitate to order more than one.
The Manhattan room is larger and a bit noisy. We had the misfortune to go on a busy night with not many table choices. We were sat next to a table of 12 kids (parents were at different table). They were not bad kids...but they were kids, talking and doing all the stuff we all do. I mean, any party of 12 might be a little crazy. However, it took any quiet elegance away from the experience.
The Garden Cafe is their buffet and breakfast is insanely crowded. We loved the Indian food, the soft serve ice cream, the omelette station. Really, things were quite edible. There is free Iced tea, coffee, lemonade and water.
Gem of the ship: The Observation Lounge. This is truly an island of tranquility amidst a lot of action. It’s a large area, with great lounge chairs, views, and ambience. The PErFECT quiet space. Also, Suzanne Jade is wonderful at the Piano!!
The Bliss theater is huge. Get there at least 15 minutes early to obtain a good seat. You need reservations for “Jersey Boys” so do that prior to departing if you can. They also had a production called “Six” which was lots of fun~! They say it will be going to Broadway in the future.
Casino: pretty large with a LOT of slots. Most table games were 10.00 minimum, which meant we weren’t gambling.
If you like pools and slides, you have come to the right place. The kids (of all ages) loved it. There is also “Spice H20” club which is more adult, if you don’t want quite so much frenetic action. The crowd tends to be younger and livelier than on other cruise ships. However, it wasn’t “spring break” antics! Just happy people. Most were super polite and we had some good laughs - especially about the elevator waits.
The hot tubs were plentiful even on busy days. Surprise!
The Gym/fitness had plenty of treadmills but not much more in the way of exercise activities. I think one cardio class that was maybe held there. I do my own thing, but if you are looking for a lot of organized classes, forget it. Bring your own water to center or sip from the fountain. I didn’t try the Thermal Suite, which is a big upcharge. Based on the crowds everywhere else, I’m glad i didn’t. I have a feeling every lounge chair would be booked. That’s not tranquility to me. (Save that for the Haven Lounge, which i’m such is quite refined).
“The Waterfront” was nice to walk around during the day. It wasn’t crowded at all, so we sat there, looking out on the ocean, on one of the days at sea. Peace!
We found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. Our room steward, Roel, was so sweet. We aren’t demanding, but he learned our schedule so when we went out, our room was quickly made up. Thank you, Roel!
Take ten steps in just about any direction in a public area and you will find a very nice bar. I had two drinks on the vacation. They were each 13.30 with the tax and auto tip. A lot of people purchase the unlimited drink package. Keep in mind, even if it is a “free at sea” perk, the gratuities and tips are NOT, and they add up to at least 200.00 dollars - maybe more. - and everyone in your room has to purchase it.
I liked that the smoking area in the Casino was closed off with glass doors.
If you like to be casual, you will LOVE this cruise. There really is no real dress code. People wore shorts and flip flops everywhere except, i believe, in the uber fancy ocean blue restaurant.
The “Cons” I’m going to start with the very worst thing that happened on the ship. The debarkation. I know, it’s always a drag, but this one was a REAL drag. People left their rooms and hung in the stairs well before it was their turn, creating a nightmarish traffic jam everywhere. There were ZERO elevators to take. We survived, but pity anyone who is even slightly handicapped. We literally stood in a roped off line that wended all through the ship, two persons wide: through the casino, restaurants, down the hall, make a turn, etc etc. etc. It took us over 1 3/4 HOURS to debark, and we were carrying our OWN luggage. Customs was a bit slow, but NOTHING compared to (what i felt) the haphazard and thoughtless way to make guests feel like cattle as they departed their vacation. Standing for THAT long, without able to use the restroom, get something to drink, even sit for a second - the absolute PITS.
The obvious solution is to pay through the nose and book “The Haven” where there is preferred treatment. We couldn’t afford that, but, really, that’s the thing to do on this ship.
Disorganized entertainment listings: Using the NCL app, it said that “The Beatles” at the cavern was SOLD OUT. Not “first come, first served” - which is how it really is!!! We finally caught on, but it was very misleading and even the box office wasn’t clear. She said, “oh it’s sold out but you have a waiting line.” No, it’s first come, first served, and maybe a waiting line for people who don’t get in. I have a feeling this also applied to the Social Comedy club and that we missed out, thinking that it WAS sold out.
We didn’t find that many activities to do that we liked. That is just personal. Also, many featured things like “Deal or No Deal” have to be bought into, in order to even get a chance to play. It seemed that we were being nickel and dimed all the time. Some folks would say, “Well, i just pay for what i want and don’t overpay.,” Well said, but i like a more inclusive experience, I think.
Excursions: Glad we didn’t do any based on the crazy crowds that lined up. However, we walked to the marina in Cabo San Lucas, and you can easily grab a little boat trip out to Land’s End for 10.00 - that’s right, 10 bucks - per person. It was really fun and lasted about 45 minutes.
TV selection. I guess this is a cruise ship problem. There were few things to watch on TV. We like to chill in our stateroom in the afternoons, so it would have been nice to grab a movie or series. We saw one only (A STar is born).
Crowds crowds crowds. This wasn’t just our observation. The place can be a madhouse after the end of any show. People crowd the elevator areas and it’s very difficult to get a lift during some hours. VERY difficult. During the “next” cruise presentation, NCL said that except for one ship, future ships were going to be a tad smaller. I wouldn’t rule out a smaller NCL ship.
I didn’t like that they were always pushing the sale of some lotto ticket and chance to win money for the cruise. Like, before just about every show or presentation.
Shopping: o.k. Not as many high end watches (if ya care) or other souvenirs. I’ve seen more on smaller ships. Just saying...
Rooms: our end tables were 6” wide - that’s right, SIX INCHES - and everything kept on falling off. There were nice USB ports on the lamps. I didn’t find myself sitting on the balcony, BUT it was very fun to have when arriving or leaving port, or to grab a wonderful sunset.
In conclusion, this was a very fun cruise for us, and we enjoyed the entertainment, but didn’t find that many other activities to draw us in. (The game shows were held in the very active, noisy Atrium, so they weren’t as engaging as they would have been if held in a smaller club or bar).
All in all, I enjoyed my cruise on the Bliss. I don’t think i would sail her again because the crowd size and constant “pay for this” mentality that left me feeling a little disenchanted. It’s partly our fault, because we aren’t into go-carts and laser tag, which many adored. I think we prefer more of a classic shipboard atmosphere. It was GREAT that it wasn’t stuffy, but sometimes we missed certain traditional things.
Also, the disembarkation was really really awful. They need to spread it out or find ways to manage the hoards better. People totally lost their civility, getting in line 1 hour before their “color” was even called. They packed the elevators and stairwells, preventing an organized exit. This made things almost dangerously crowded and difficult. Then again, pay for the upscale “Haven” and i bet it was an entirely different animal. But one still might venture out into the huddled masses (which is how I felt) and then, ugh, very crowded. They need to explain how the smaller clubs work on the ship (first come, first served) and not say “This is sold out” on the activities app. That was really annoying! I loved ditching the “formal nights” and that nonsense. I like “freestyle dining” although it is still wise to book a table if you also have other evening plans. If you can afford it, “The Haven” is the way to go. It will give you a respite from the crowds as well as a lot of priority perks (including disembarkation). I personally would book a smaller, more upscale ship if i were going to spend that money, BUT if I had teens and pre-teens, might consider this ship because of the water features, laser tag, and track.
This is especially good for young adults and families, as there are singles cabins and plenty of music venues as well as that super water park and scary slides!

Persona 5 Royal, August 30th PV#03 Analysis Part 2!

Check out LettuceSauce's translated version here!
Part 1 of the Analysis and just the album from said part.
---
I know it was obvious from how open they were with certain plot points before this coughAkechicough but this trailer really shows that Royal is being marketed towards people who have already played the original game. As for complete newcomers...maybe they're counting on word of mouth or simply on the fact that none of the trailers make any sense unless you understand the context? Anyway, let's begin!
---
The trailer begins with shots of mental shutdown victims while Kasumi asks why someone "is here". Where is here? Later parts of the trailer suggest Kasumi is captured or sacrifices herself/ surrenders to someone, so is she asking why someone (i.e. Joker) has come to rescue her? We also hear her muttering "The transfer student with a criminal background..."
We heard Kamoshida warn someone about "bad company" in the reveal trailer. I suspected he was talking to Kasumi and, if so, this line is likely part of the same scene - i.e., her digesting what he just told her. However, as we've already seen she gets along well with Ren, so it's likely that she - like Shiho - simply refuses to accept that Ren is a terrible person without seeing for herself (and she's proven right for doubting the rumours as he helps her out at least twice before the two even introduce themselves to each other!)
We continue with shots from the prologue of the game, which tells us that Joker's failed escape still takes. That said, we know Kasumi's with him after the Thieves split up in the Casino, so it's possible this cutscene has been altered to include her and we've only been shown the shots that stayed the same. Anyway, we hear the SIU Director and Sae discuss the Thieves (specifically, the former's line comes from the start of the Casino infiltration where he assigns Sae to the PT case, while the latter's line comes from one of her early musings in the cafe/ lounge she hangs out in).
---
The next shot (Picture 1 in the Gallery) is interesting - or rather, line. The footage we see shows a new area (or two - we can't be sure due to the cut between Joker swinging and landing) of the Cruise Ship but we hear Akechi ask "Is there really a way to steal hearts in the real world?"
This is interesting because we never needed to explain this to him before. We needed to explain how the infilitration/ calling card process worked, sure, but by that point he already knew that stealing hearts was a real thing that could happen (or rather, the version of Akechi he was pretending to be already knew). There's a later shot that suggests the timing of some events regarding Akechi have been moved around, but could this be one of them?
Two more points about this line: it's possible that this is simply something he says early on when the public still doubt the PTs' existence. For example, we know there's a new scene where he discusses the Thieves with Ren and Kasumi (where the dialogue from the teaser trailer comes from), so he may just say this there. Maybe this is just something he says at the TV station in the original game! Also, why does he say "in the real world"? Does he just mean "Is it possible to steal hearts in reality?" or will the Metaverse change at some point so that the Thieves can access their powers in the real world? Of course, we know the third act of the game takes place in some sort of illusionary version of Tokyo, so maybe this is the "real world" he's referring to instead?
On a lighter note: right after this we see a new area of the Castle (Picture 1.5), accessible via a lift according to the minimap. We know one of the Ishis can be found in a chamber in the dungeons since we could see hanging cells outside. I assumed it was found in the dungeons from the start of the original game, but maybe it can be found here instead?
---
Picture 2 comes during a series of shots showing Ren's arrest. While it may just be a quirk of the lighting engine (especially since the game was remade to run exclusively on the PS4), why is Ren's Shujin badge glowing? It's glowing a faint blue too, which is associated with the butterfly Lavenza appears as. Is this a coincidence and the glow just means something related to the Metaverse is about to happen, or does she hide on his person now?
Also, remember how the reveal trailer started with an alternate version of the "Akechi kills Ren" cutscene that may or may not have been an illusion? What if the glow is hinting that this is also fake and Ren is being made to relive his arrest and interrogation (for the second time) for some reason?
---
The next scene (and source of Pictures 3 and 4) is set in the new Palace. We see someone in trousers and smart shoes shamble forward with paint dripping from offscreen followed by a number of Shadows surrounding Kasumi. We saw in PV#02 that some of the Shadows in this Palace have frizzy hair and paint splotches on their faces. In fact, they're the same type of Shadow surrounding Kasumi, only without the paint. As I mentioned in the gallery, the outfit looks similar to the Shujin uniform...I think you can see where I'm going with this, so the question remains: are all the Shadows in this Palace formed out of students (after all, the Palace is said to resemble an academy in the latest Famitsu article)? And are these students simply cognitions (Shido was able to meld cognitions and Shadows together in his Palace) or - because the new plot involves the Metaverse affecting reality - the students themselves? Maybe they're the students' Shadow Selves and the Thieves will need to find a way to defeat them all without a single casualty, lest they induce mental shutdowns in a bunch of innocent classmates?
---
The next few moments give us another few hints about the third semester plot. First though, we see a new cutscene or possibly two - again, the cut in between makes it difficult to tell (it could even be two separate parts of the same cutscene joined together to flow better for the trailer) - of Ren noticing and chasing after something suspicious. If you recall, the latter half of this scene was also in the reveal trailer and the narration at the time was about someone following the Thieves. Is this indeed what's going on right now, and Ren just caught a glimpse of their stalker?
I'm going to talk about the dialogue and visuals separately for the next bit (Pictures 5 to 8). Makoto says she acted like a brat after her father died while everyone else talks about how confused or ashamed they are of themselves, which leads me to suspect this is everyone's reaction to finding out they've been living in an illusion for the past few weeks - if so, these are likely separate voice lines stuck together here for the sake of flow and setting the mood. If you recall, the reveal trailer also had Ryuji and Yusuke sound ashamed of themselves, which may be evidence supporting this interpretation. As for Makoto's line, perhaps she's remembering how badly she took her father's death and realising that's why her "wish" was to have him back?
Now for the visuals! Other than the first two shots (the sunset is from Makoto's part of the "everyone reacts to Ren's imprisonment" cutscene and the traffic lights changing is from right before Kobayakawa's death), everything else is new. The first even confirms something we've been speculating about since the reveal trailer in April! If you recall, we saw the shot of Kasumi looking shocked then, but now we know that this is indeed the result of being shocked out of her Thief form, with her Winter outfit suggesting that this happens in the present day and not in her past.
We then see Joker letting go of a rope and falling, likely leading into his fall from the end of the reveal trailer, followed by Akechi holding onto something: is he trying to pull Joker to safety after the Metaverse city collapses, but the latter simply realises what he has to do (whatever that is) and lets go?
We see Kasumi clenching her fist with Haru and Ann in the background (the orange glow to her left - is something on fire? - matches the glow Ryuji was in a few seconds ago, so I'm assuming that was part of this scene too). After a cut to the post-Yaldabaoth scene and a shot of the Palace (more on this later) we see Haru saying she "doesn't understand" something. There's a golden light from above that could be from the Palace's "bulb", but who is she talking to? Both Kasumi and Joker seem to risk their lives at different points here, so she could be trying to talk either (heck, maybe even both) out of doing whatever they're planning to and her saying she doesn't understand what that person is saying suggests it's Kasumi she's talking to. However, Ren had a pretty long line in the reveal trailer (about humans changing their cognition) so maybe he finally gets to hold a full conversation with his friends before doing something that might kill him?
We're then treated to Kasumi being a defeatist and crying that she has nowhere to "stay". Why is this? We know she cooks for herself, which suggests she lives by herself and I theorised earlier (as far back as May) that she may be estranged from her family. Does she feel that now she's let her friends down too and wants to run away again (or worse)? Or is this a more metaphysical cry for help: is she instead not human at all, and whatever happened makes her think she can't stay with her human friends anymore?
Either way, we're treated to Joker and Black Mask being buffeted by wind and looking up with a shot of Kasumi's mask forming in between. While I don't doubt that Kasumi's power is responsible for the wind - we know a black Cendrillon appears at some point here, so perhaps this is Kasumi's Second (or Third) Awakening is tied to the plot as Joker's is and is happening right now - the shot we see if actually from her initial Awakening (note that she's in her regular uniform and the background is different and only Joker and Morgana seem to be present).
---
This is followed by an extended (but still abridged) look at the "Kasumi saves Joker" scene from the Casino where we see her pull off some really impressive moves while we hear Cendrillon comfort her and tell her she'll be with her 'til the end. We heard Cendrillon talk in PV02 too, but there she had turned black and Kasumi seemed to turn on the Thieves. Perhaps Cendrillon isn't evil or corrupting Kasumi after all, but appeared malicious because Kasumi herself was at her breaking point and, once Kasumi finds herself again, reverts to her original look and reassures her?
Whatever the case, and whatever Kasumi may or may not have done beforehand, we see that she's back with the Thieves by the time the city starts collapsing (Picture 10). We see the Cruise Ship sinking followed by...Akechi pointing his gun at someone (Picture 11)?!
This is the new Palace as seen by the background and seems to take place after the city begins collapsing as everyone's outside (which means he was in the Morganamobile with everyone too) so...who is he aiming at? It's possible this shot is a fakeout and he's aiming at a villain or Shadow, but let's look at the other options.
So far we've been led to believe that Kasumi has a breakdown during the Palace infiltration and makes things worse. While the work together to escape the Palace itself, maybe Akechi wants to take her to task for what she did and wants to get rid of her before she can make things worse (at which point everyone will need to remind him that he's done far worse and they still trust him)? If this is the case, does he suspect Kasumi because he thinks she'll snap again, or is her influence on the Metaverse a subconscious one, so he can't trust her even if she makes a conscious effort not to turn on anyone again? And if she indeed has an effect - any effect - on the Metaverse, what does it mean? Is this whole place her Palace (and so her "Persona" is actually a cognition) or does she indeed have some extraordinary power like the Wild Card that lets her manipulate it...or is she indeed a god of some sort?
Also, we saw in Goro's own trailer that it's possible he figured out the illusions were occurring before Ren did (at least according to the after-credits scene there), however the latest Famitsu article pointed out how strange him appearing in the third semester was, which made some of us wonder if this Akechi is yet another illusion. If so, what's going on? If this is an illusion, was he acting how the Thieves' impression of Akechi would act and now that the Palace (or at least the main part of it) has collapsed the Metaverse/ Palace Ruler has taken over him to ensure its own survival...or is the Akechi who's been with us so far real and this is a second, illusive one?
---
We next see (Pictures 12 and 13) Kasumi getting captured by the banners from Mementos and raised towards the roof of the Palace, which takes the form of a giant light bulb (like a lighthouse, even). We already knew these Mementos banners would appear in the Palace, but this is the first time we've seen them - or anything that isn't a Shadow, in fact - act with sentience. As with the Akechi theory before - is the Metaverse itself sentient now? After all, Yaldabaoth was essentially a sentient Treasure, so with him out of the way maybe the Metaverse itself woke up and is now the new villain? And if so, how does the fact that it's a Palace without a Treasure affect it? Is this why it bleeds into the real world and causes illusions? Yaldabaoth wanted to fuse the two worlds together - maybe the Metaverse is using the real world as a crutch to survive without him?
We also knew that the banners (at least those coiled up at the top of the Palace) would turn gold at some point, but now we see Kasumi being taken up there. Could she be why they turn gold? And if so, is this because they use her as a power source...or Kasumi herself is transformed in some way to be a part of the Palace?
We see Futaba at work and begging someone not to do something reckless. While coming right after Kasumi's capture would make you think he's worried about her, I suspect this is just clever editing and thus that Futaba is instead scared for Joker, either after his fall or as Morgana and Kasumi cry out for him as shown at the end of PV#02.
---
What comes next is very interesting. While I know the new Palace has some futuristic elements, this next shot looks just like an elevator room from the Spaceport...but what are you doing here, Black Mask!Akechi?
Needless to say, this is huge! But what's telling is that he's alone with Joker. In the original game, Black Mask only appeared after everyone else left the Palace. Maybe the group is split up and Joker is stuck with Black Mask, working together so they can escape before the Palace collapses (with Joker still in the dark about Okumura's fate)?
Or is this an example of the story being rewritten? As mentioned at the beginning, Akechi asks a question he never had to originally: has his arc been rewritten so that he joins the Thieves and/ or is outed as Black Mask sooner, and thus becomes a true ally sooner too? This - on top of his new manual Confidant - may even be geared toward winning over people who were disgusted by him originally (especially if his original past/ backstory is redone to be less malicious and more sympathetic). Maybe this is why he yells at Ren for being "spineless" in the cutscene from the reveal trailer - him being outed sooner means he knows the Thieves will eventually have to deal with him and he's angry that they were too soft to? This would also mean that that scene wasn't fake at all and simply the new version as a result of P5R's changes. But we know that Akechi still uses the Crow outfit in Royal, so how this theory would fit would him having that outfit (which he wore to cover his true identity originally) remains to be seen.
However, remember again that Goro is (seemingly) the only one aware of the illusions in the third semester. He invites Ren to come see him if he decides to fight against this new fate (which, incidentally, is likely the branching off point for one of the game's new endings)...but what if instead of entering the new Palace immediately, Goro and Ren have to break through the illusion first? Since the illusion uses people's memories to create their dearest desires, perhaps the duo need to go through their own memories to escape them and this is represented by a marathon of (segments from) all the Palaces up to that point, and this is simply the Spaceport segment? Incidentally, if this is true the duo will likely learn that Kasumi is responsible - if the scene in the reveal trailer didn't tip one or both of them off already - which in turn leads to Ren and Morgana meeting her at the construction site from which she summons the new Palace as seen in PV01 and 02.
EDIT: u/Savixeon pointed out that this isn't just a team of two - Kasumi's there too! She's hard to make out (since they don't wear black), but she's directly behind Akechi when the lift opens. If you look closely at him in Picture 14, you can make out her coattails behind his left thigh and her sleeves - while Akechi has a slight coat cape in his Black Mask outfit, it doesn't fall as far as her coat, nor does it make his sleeves as poofy as hers. You can also make out her left foot between Akechi's legs. This is an even bigger deal than this scene was before! While the first theory - that Joker and Kasumi are trapped with Akechi as the Palace collapses - could still be possible since we still can't say for sure when Kasumi joins the party (in fact, Kasumi's presence may be what changes the original course of events enough for the team-up to take place), I personally lean towards the latter: if Kasumi is indeed responsible for the mass illusion, it's possible that Ren and Goro are able to convince her to help them dispel it, prompting them to form a party of three and go through this Palace gauntlet. It'd make sense too: if Kasumi created it, who better to have as a guide as they seek to unmake it? Morgana Report 5 also confirmed that Joker has Showtimes but that they're unlocked late in the story and everyone has gotten two thus far: maybe this is the point of the game where he gets his Showtimes with Goro and Kasumi as they work to uncover the truth? Perhaps Goro and Kasumi also get a Showtime together in the process as a result of working together so closely?
---
I've speculated about both Kasumi and Goro turning on/ leaving the group over the course of this analysis, but Pictures 15 and 16 show that both are present when the Thieves run up the outside of the Palace. Granted, this is before it collapses (which doesn't count out Goro's betrayal being permanent), but it does confirm that Kasumi is eventually freed from the banne tendrils. Of course, assuming she is responsible for the Palace's roof turning golden, this was already implied by the banners being black again as the tower broke apart - which the black walls suggest is about to happen. As an aside, these transparent glass/ hard light steps also appear in an earlier anime cutscene (and at the end of the reveal trailer before Joker's fall) and are shown crumbling as Joker runs over them at the end of PV#02. Of course, then we see the "tower" seemingly glowing and possibly transforming into (or making way for) the final boss - we still don't know how we get from the place breaking apart to that just yet...unless we assume that freeing Kasumi and/ or defeating a minor boss causes the final boss to awaken out of anger and tear the place apart in the process (or, again, the tower only looks like it's collapsing when in actual fact the debris is simply the excess falling away because the bulk of the tower is the final boss).
We see a short snippet of Kasumi in action, while also confirming the open area we saw Yusuke fight in (as suggested by the "please wait until called" sign in the background) and the room full of TV monitors are the same. Also, if you look directly above Bugs (the IT-looking teddy bear) when Kasumi hits everyone with Kougaon you'll see two TVs and what looks to be a cable supplying them with footage. Now, while this may just be due to bad lighting, does the cable look familiar to you? Specifically, to the Mementos banners/ tendrils?
If we assume that part of this Palace is a mass observation deck, then it makes perfect sense that the banners running throughout Mementos were TV cables. After all, what better way to capture "footage"/ information about humanity than through their collective unconscious? But this begs the question: if capturing Kasumi really does turn the cables golden...why? How could Kasumi contain (or be equal to) enough knowledge about humanity that the cables turn gold (if we assume that "gold = the best" for the Metaverse as in reality). If we assume that the final boss is the Metaverse itself, does this mean Kasumi is also a living fragment of the Metaverse and the gold light is the result of it being whole again (at least until the Thieves free her)? Or is Kasumi simply so in tune with the Metaverse that she soaks up human information readily? In fact, could it be this ability that lets her create illusions for her fellow Thieves (assuming she's indeed responsible for them)? If she can indeed imbibe information about people so easily, surely it would be a simple matter to understand what her friends' deepest desires are and grant them?
---
Almost done! The next shot is brief, but shows Kasumi absorbing her mask. Remember that Persona users need to tear off their masks to summon them the first time and that the masks will automatically turn into Personas every other time and that they will always fly up to do so - Kasumi's mask is instead surrounded by a blue aura flowing downward before it too fades. (Is this why there are so many scenes of her in the Metaverse without it in PV02?)
What does it mean? In Persona 5, the mask represents the false identity a user shows to the public and taking it off represents them being true to themselves (which is also what each Persona explains to its user when appearing for the first time). So what does it mean when a user absorbs their mask instead? On one hand, it can mean that they decided to double down on their false identity and will continue living a lie - for example, Kasumi may resent having to perform gymnastics competitively but puts on a brave face, and absorbing this "mask" means she's willing to keep pretending to enjoy competing even if it kils her. On the other, as with Persona 4 (and Futaba), it could mean that Kasumi's instead choosing to accept something she thought she was just faking or deny/ trying to get rid of. To use the gymnast example again, maybe she resents performing and comes to hate gymnastics itself but realises that no, she still loves the sport and resolves to keep at it and just try to enjoy it on her own terms in the future. Whatever the case, she's blinded as the screen fades to white. The white could just be light, but more on that in just a bit.
The next shot is Joker falling between some floating staircases and reaching out for something as he does. In fact, this moment seems to be a direct continuation of his fall from the end of the reveal trailer and thus seems to confirm that he's falling to reach out for something...or most likely someone, given his focused expression and how he reaches his hand out.
I said before the the towe Palace gives way to the final boss. Maybe the final boss captures Kasumi again (or forces her to join with it via threats) to use as fuel/ complete itself and Joker tries to save her by falling from above? And maybe this is where Kasumi's line from the start of this trailer ("Why? Why did you come?") comes from?
The next shot may provide some answers though: it's Kasumi in a white space looking shocked as she looks at something above her, then smiling and nodding. What is this white space? Was the white "light" I mentioned a few paragraphs ago actually a physical/ magical entity that surrounded her, or is this something of her own doing - possibly the result of sacrificing herself and/ or being captured? Even if this and the previous shots aren't directly adjacent to each other, are they part of the same scene and this is indeed what Joker was falling towards and trying to save her from...or is this something else entirely?
After all, the white light may in fact be a good thing if we look at the disappearing mask from the P4 angle and she's missing her mask here while also being unharmed, which may mean this comes immediately after that moment after all - and think about it; we never see a Thief without their mask except when using their Persona (and when Joker takes his off briefly to reveal himself to Shadow Shido), yet we've seen so much of Kasumi without hers! What could this mean? Could accepting something about herself make her Persona an innate ability for example, allowing her to summon Cendrillon (or most likely her second or even third form at this point) without performing any sort of action?
Whenever this happens to be, let's assume for a moment that this is in fact when Joker comes to save Kasumi. We've heard Kasumi hating herself and feeling she can't belong anywhere, so could her shock turning into happiness represent her realising that no, she does have a place to belong as she sees Joker risking his life to save her, with her smile showing that she's willing to go back with him give life another try? And is this what the final line of the trailer ("Please...take me with you") is referring to?
Finally, we see an animated scene of Ren and Morgana walking away from the camera. The solid red background makes me think this is from a new intro cutscene (for example, the original Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There introduction may be replaced/ joined by a music video for Colors Flying High), either the very beginning or end, judging by how simple the shot is and how Morgana yawning could mean this is either first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening for him and Ren.
As for the dialogue, Kasumi's "That won't happen" is made to sound like a response to Futaba's worried yell. Again, I doubt these two lines are connected in reality, but perhaps they're both referring to Joker's seeming sacrifice and Kasumi is bluntly saying she won't let him risk his life? Morgana's line about being scared of parting ways with everyone is similar to his feelings about them at the start of the Okumura arc (where he admits that the Thieves are like a home and family to him). Perhaps part of the illusion involved the possibility of everyone moving away (for example, we know Ryuji was scouted for a university) and part of what snapped Morgana out of it was the fear of saying goodbye? On the other hand, Atlus has stated they want to improve the pacing of the original game, so it's possible that the Morgana/ Ryuji fight simply won't happen this time around and Morgana ends up revealing this fear in a completely different context this time around (or simply for the first time after breaking free of the illusion). Finally, Akechi's line that "You won't say no, will you?" Could be a taunt or respectful jab about Ren always playing the hero, but it could also be something he says if you decide to fight against the illusion with him when he gives you the chance (i.e. he jokes that of course you wouldn't be happy with a perfect world if it was fake).

Me, after finishing the Joker trailer analysis: The PV#03 trailer's pretty short, I can wait a while before doing it, can't I?
Me, now: half-asleep, delirious screeching
...yeah, that's the best way I can describe this trailer. It consists entirely of fast cuts over a short period of time, but I made the mistake of underestimating how much detail Atlus can cram into the things they make. Atlus, the ones who made Persona 5 in the first place! I'm so ashamed of myself... Also, I hope this also explains why the last chunk of the analysis comes off as a bit disjointed. If it's too bad I'll try to fix it after I get some rest. Speaking of fixing, as always please feel free to tell me of anything I can fix or add to this write up - your feedback is always great to hear and incredibly helpful!
As promised, I'll try to analyse the other trailers we've gotten over the next few days. Until then, feel free to check out this masterpost of all the P5R information we have thus far. And, more importantly, thank you so much for your time! Take care!!

Review Of Hawaii And NCL's Pride Of America

I just got back and a friend who is taking the exact same cruise and is also cost conscious asked me to give him all my lessons learned. I figured you all might benefit even if some of this information isn't strictly about cruising. I'm going to ask my travel companions to review it (first time in Hawaii and first time cruising) to see if they have anything to add.

Getting There And Getting Around

Air Fare
With Southwest now offering tickets to Hawaii, I expect the competitive market to drop prices across the board but unless you are fortunate enough to live on the west coast in a city with flights that fly direct, air fare can be pricey. I had to get 4 people there round-trip (2 from rural Maine, 1 from Louisville Kentucky and 1 from the Baltimore/D.C. area). I ended up signing up for the Chase Sapphire credit card (annual fee waived for the first year) and the Alaska Airlines credit card that gave me a buy one/take one sign up offer. My total air fare cost was $2400. Besides the credit card, there was no secret other than monitoring the prices as far in advance as possible to see what typical prices are and then striking when there was a decent sale. I would also mention following Scott's Cheap Flights on the off chance a deal becomes available for when you were already planning on traveling.
Ground Transportation
We flew into Waikiki on Tuesday (cruise started on Saturday) so I got a rental car through Autoslash. The total cost for a mid-size for 4 days was $176 and ended up being from Alamo. While I feel this was a good deal as I had four people, if you're not 100% sure you will need it - you can probably get by with an Uber, taxi or even a hop on/off bus (see excursions later). Many excursions had an option for hotel pickup/drop-off.
Probably the best deal I found was Star Taxi which only charged $25 for up to 4 people one-way to/from the cruise terminal and not much more for other locations. Call 1 hour before you need the service.
Parking
Parking is EXPENSIVE so be sure to do a lot of research if you plan on renting a vehicle.

Oahu

General In your mind, you have this idea of what Hawaii is going to be like. Oahu (specifically Honolulu/Waikiki) is not it. It is very over developed and crowded. Many places are run-down because investors have purchased the property but have chosen to wait until conditions are more favorable to develop. There is a very large homeless population in Hawaii overall but I was shocked by the number of shanty towns and abandoned vehicles doubling as homes I saw on Oahu.
Excursions
Recommendations/Notes

Pride Of America

I have to be honest, this was hands down the most expensive cruise I have taken and it was the worst cruise ship. I had a great time but there was a lot left to be desired.
Update: One thing that really stood out as being a good thing is that the room had 3 US standard outlets!!!
Why Does It Cost So Much
Hint: You should get the NCL Mobile App. It includes dinner reservations, account charges, dinner reservations, deck plans, passenger to passenger chat for an additional fee ($10 vs Carnival's $5) and other nifty features.
Observations
I was astounded by the number of first time cruisers I saw (based on their ship card color). Because so many of the employees were American, I was also surprised by how many told me that they were on their first contract and wouldn't be back. The people (both employees and passengers) were incredibly friendly and most everyone seemed to be having a good time. I didn't see long lines at guest services. I mentioned earlier how this was the worst ship I had been on - and, while true, shouldn't give you the impression that I didn't have a great time. For my traveling companions, they had nothing to compare it to and other than the entertainment - they had no complaints at all and loved it.

Day 1 & 2 Maui (overnight)

If you have ever been on a Caribbean cruise and you didn't feel like paying for an expensive excursion you could always just walk off the ship and go to a beach or a shopping district or a friendly bar - something. This is not the case in Maui. Where the Pride Of America docks there is absolutely nothing (it took 10 minutes to walk out of the port with chained link fence on both sides only to end up about another 10 minutes away from a strip mall). I do want to point out that the strip mall did have a few artisans selling things out on the sidewalk but this was far from what you will be used to at other locations.
So what to do instead?

Day 3 Hilo Hawaii

This is the first of two days on the island of Hawaii and it is on the eastern (very wet) side of the island. Normally doing two excursions in one day is a not recommended. I would make an exception here because the Botanical Gardens are not to be missed. It is a short excursion (2.5 hours), is relatively inexpensive (you can even do it on your own) and is offered at multiple times allowing you to get another excursion in.
Recommendations

Day 4 Kona Hawaii

The other side of the island is a stark contrast to Hilo as it is dry/desert climate. It is the only tender port on the cruise. Unfortunately, we didn't fare very well here on excursions but shopping and beer was good.
It has been on my bucket list to be in a real submarine and go over 100 feet to below the surface to the ocean floor. That's what 3 of us did here in Kona and while I am glad that I can now say I have done it (105'), the experience itself was underwhelming. To not interfere with the wildlife, the sub doesn't use any artificial lights nor does anything to attract the fish to your windows. This means almost everything is a monochrome blue (the color red doesn't exist at this depth for instance). It's also nearly impossible to get nice photos out the windows even though they are clear enough - just not the right conditions. Now, I met a guest back on the ship that said he had a phenomenal time on a sub that wasn't sponsored through NCL but I'm not sure what it was.
The other guest in my party decided to go on the Gold Coast & Cloud Forest excursion and was also not impressed. The gold supposedly comes from the Hawaii state fish (yellow trigger fish also known as humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa) but apparently they haven't been plentiful enough to turn the coast gold for years. She also said if she was a coffee drinker, she probably would have enjoyed it more (they are famous for their coffee).
Recommendations

Day 5 & 6 Kauai (Overnight)

Remember how I said you have this ideal image in your head of what Hawaii is and Oahu doesn't meet it. Kauai exceeds it - I fell in love and if I ever go back, I will just fly directly here and stay on this island - it is that good.
I am not going to suggest you do anything other than exactly what I did because I couldn't possibly imagine having a better time.
Recommendations
Now, there's more to the story than just these two excursions. First, since you're overnight you can stay out as late as you want. I asked our tour guide where an affordable place to get good beer close to the ship was. She recommended The Nawiliwili Tavern (or just the Tavern). It happens to be a 2 minute walk from one of the free shuttle stops and they have great pizza, beer and pool. Secret I learned this is also where a lot of the crew from the ship hang out after they get off at 9PM so if you want to have a real conversation and ask real questions - this is the place to do it. Once the bartender realized I was into craft beer and trying all they had, she told me about a brew pub not too far up the road that I really wanted to try but ran out of time.

Napali Coast (still day 6)

The cruise ship leaves port early (circa 2PM) and instead of heading to Honolulu backtracks around Kauai. There is a portion of the island that's only reachable by air (helicopter) or by sea (cruise ship) and I was fortunate enough to do both. Actually, our pilot said that a few of the beaches can be reached by a hiking 11+ miles but it isn't an easy hike. In any event, this is where the opening scenes of Jurassic Park were filmed if I remember correctly - utterly gorgeous. My pilot also let me in on a little secret - that the captain times the cruise ship to sunset when the coast is all lit up in spectacular colors so be out on deck with camera ready.

Day 7 - Honolulu (Pearl Harbor & City Tour)

I made a big mistake here. I booked a late flight so I could go to Pearl Harbor and then get dropped off at the airport. We had already done the Circle Island Tour and none of the other offerings were of interest. This was a mistake for two reasons.
Reason 1: Exhaustion
After having spent 5ish days in Waikiki and then taking a 7 day cruise, we were wiped out and really didn't have the stamina to really take it all in.
Recommendations
Reason 2: Airport
If you have a late flight home, I'm sorry. All of your checked bags have to be screened by agriculture (certain plants are not allowed to leave the state) which is airline specific and unless that airline is running flights all day (looking at you Alaska), then you will have to wait for them to open before you can even check in. While you wait, there is essentially no place to eat (Starbucks and a bar that serves hot dogs for $12.50 - yes, $12.50). I recommend you keep some food with you for this reason. They do offer a baggage hold service but the prices were ridiculous (4 checked bags for 24 hours was $100). Sorry if it seems like I am whining - it was the end of a long trip and I was returning to reality.

Update: Viator

In this post, I have provided a number of links to NCL's excursions, directly to the vendor and also to Viator. Viator is part of Tripadvisor and generally speaking, you can trust the reviews. On most of the bookings, you can cancel for a full refund up to 24 hours in advance. They are competitively priced and you can usually get a discount. For instance, new customers will get offered a 10% discount off their first purchase. Companies like Ebates and TopCashBack will offer an additional 3 to 6% cash back as well. Use a credit card that gives back 2-4% on travel and it can really reduce the price. I haven't had too much trouble figuring out what vendor was being used through Viator so you could just book with them direct too and just use them as a way to find fun things to do and use the reviews to distinguish between what's good and what's not.
